Steve Lewis, MA, LMHCA, LMFTA
When a storm approaches across the open prairie, cattle run away from it, inadvertently prolonging their exposure to the wind and rain. Buffalo, however, turn and charge directly into the storm, reducing their time in the thick of it and reaching clear skies much faster.
That is the approach I bring to therapy. My goal is to connect with individuals and couples navigating life’s storms and help them face what’s ahead rather than outrun it. Utilizing a warm, collaborative style, I help create a space of trust where you can build practical skills, process deep experiences, and develop the resilience needed to meet whatever comes your way.
WHO I WORK WITH
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for adults from all walks of life, with specialized focus areas including:
Veterans, military personnel, and their families
Trauma and PTSD recovery
First responders, pastors, clergy, and church staff
Individuals navigating separation and divorce
Men’s issues
Individuals and families in our community who are navigating the trauma and loss following recent wildfires
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND & LIVED EXPERIENCES
My path to counseling is rooted in real-world service and high-stress environments. I served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. That experience—alongside my background as a first responder and in crisis intervention and case management—had given me a firsthand understanding of trauma, grief, and loss.
Witnessing how people endure and heal in the wake of deep pain revealed my own gift for listening, guiding, and holding space. For clients who desire it, my Christian faith and worldview also seamlessly integrate into our work together.
