Let’s Talk

Kim Harper, Masters Level Intern

Hi, I am so glad you are here! I am Kim Harper, a Whitworth University Marriage and Family Therapy intern. I work with children, individuals, couples, and families exploring themselves and their stories. I am here to be with you, supporting you on your journey towards growth, hope, and wholeness. Life is full. Full of transitions and challenges that prompt us to grow and change. Sometimes we feel stuck, whether that’s in a relationship we would like to improve, a circumstance that is hard to bear, or are unsure of the path that we are on. I am here to help with that process.

During my Master level program, I will be developing my skills based on evidence-based therapeutic techniques, relational and systemic perspectives, and critical thinking tools. Additionally, I will receive formal training in Gottman (Levels 1 & 2), Lifespan Integration Therapy (Level 1), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). My goal is to provide person-centered therapy that is designed to meet your specific needs and goals.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in nursing from Whitworth University in 2006. My previous eighteen years as a registered nurse has given me a strong sense of compassion, advocacy, and practicality. I have assisted many clients through traumatic events, confusing challenges, developmental life changes, daily hardships, and chronic/terminal illnesses. My work experience has ranged from trauma and organ transplant intensive care units, to case management of hospitalized adults, my own case management business, the nurse management of a nonprofit clinic, and working in various urban and rural hospitals in the Inland Northwest. I continue to work as a nurse in our pediatric community.

Additionally, I am married to a veteran and have a heart for first responders, medical personnel, servicemen and woman, veterans, and their families. When not working, I enjoy gardening, being active outside, and spending time with my three children and husband. I look forward to this journey with you.
